New research commissioned by L’Oreal reveals that over half of older teens are ready to rule out a career in science. Around 55% of 16-18 year-old full time students are not studying science and of those, more than a third (40%) said it was because they don’t think science would lead to a career they want to do, and just under a third (29%) feel they are no good at science.
There’s still a long way to go but the company is helping to promote the number of female scientist role models into primary schools through the Inspiring the Future programme in an aim to tackle gender stereotyping in careers and encourage interest.
